Goa University gets equipped with microscope worth of Rs one crore

Education in today's world is getting advance and high-tech, many new techniques, equipment and new learning process have revolutionised the field of education. Following the trend of high-tech education, University of Goa get equipped with the new Scanning Electron Microscope.

This highly advanced piece of device can allow magnifications of up to 1 lakh conducting and non-conducting samples as well as in-vivo biological material.

Expensive microscope purchased by Goa University

University purchased it from an additional grant from University Grants Commission at Rs one crore at the end of 11th five year plan.
In order to house the machine a special cabin is made in the instrumentation center.

The expensive device will be open to use for the science departments of Goa university. Whereas, other affiliated college, institutes and industry can use the microscope under certain terms and conditions defined by the University.

It was inaugurated by vice-chancellor Dr. Satish Shetye in the presence of Professor VP Kamat. The manufacturer of the device is Carl Zeiss (India). The initiative for the procurement of the instrument was taken by the former vice-chancellor D Deobagkar.
