The exam was conducted recently by Manipur Public Service Commission under Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.
HRD Secretary of AMSU, Manjit Sarangthem said, "the decision to select only five times the total vacant posts in the preliminary examination is not complying with the norms of UPSC."
"By following the UPSC Guideline, States form their norms for civil service examinations, citing the example of Maharashtra that the State is preparing to select 4500 candidates for the main exam which is 12 times the vacant posts", he added.
He further stated, "It is unfortunate that only 5 times the vacant posts is to be allotted in the recently conducted preliminary exam of MPSC which was appeared by a huge number of candidates and has no negative marking system."
However, AMSU has submitted a representation regarding the matter to the Chief Minister, Education Minister and Chairman MPSC yesterday. Like UPSC, the candidates to be selected for the main examination should be 1:12 or 1:13 instead of the 1:5, he urged.
