La Trobe University- Australia offers scholarship for Indian students

An Australian university Monday declared scholarships of worth $240,000 for deserving Indian students.

"The Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, at La Trobe University has announced scholarships of worth $240,000 for deserving students. These scholarships are being offered across various masters degree courses at the university," said Leigh Drake, executive dean, Faculty of Business, of the Melbourne-based La Trobe University.

Earlier this year, La Trobe had also signed an agreement with Presidency College, Bangalore to provide opportunities to Indian students to experience the diverse and rich offerings at the college and university.

"In an effort to strengthen the existing relationship with India, we have developed new curriculum and trying to offer something new constantly. We are also introducing a new executive MBA for working professionals," added Drake.

The Australia Awards scheme, funded by the Commonwealth of Australia, offers a range of scholarship opportunities to international students wishing to study in Australia. La Trobe hosts students from the Australia Awards Endeavour Scholarships scheme and the AusAID Australia Awards Scholarship scheme. Both the schemes offer non-qualification based fellowship opportunities.

Australia Awards Endeavour Scholarships are internationally competitive and merit-based awards providing opportunities for citizens from the Asia Pacific, Asia, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to study the degree of their choice in Australia. AusAID Australia Awards Scholarships provide long and short term study opportunities to citizens from developing countries around the globe. Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is funding generous scholarships for international students commencing undergraduate studies in a business School/Faculty of an Australian University. There is one scholarship per calendar year, and the first year of the award is 2014.
