Teachers Recruitment a major challenge

This was one of the observations made during a review meeting conducted by HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju during his visit to Lalitpur and Jhansi.

He was told that sanctions for the seven districts of Bundelkhand region were eight and a half per cent of the total Sarva Siksha Abhiyan budget of Uttar Pradesh during the current fiscal.

On the mid-day meal scheme, the Minister was told that 47 per cent of primary schools and 52 per cent of upper primary schools in the region are not covered under the scheme.

Bundelkhand region has 41 blocks listed as educationally backward blocks (EBBs)and remaining seven blocks are non-EBBs.

The HRD Minister was on an one-day visit to this region where he was told that only four of the seven Kendriya Vidyalayas are functional. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said 50 crore youth will be provided training through polytechnics by 2020.
