'Egg Vendor' from Bihar gives free coaching to Civil Service aspirants

As we all know, cracking UPSC Civil Service Examination is not a simple task. Most of them fail to crack this exam even after a lot of hard-work and practice.

Well, here is an inspiring story of an 'Egg Vendor' from Bihar, who is offering free coaching to Civil Service aspirants.

Manoj Kumar Roy, who is now an Indian Ordnance Factory Service Officer, sold eggs, worked as a vegetable vendor and also mopped the floors of an office to earn his bread and butter. Though he faced lots of struggling days, he made up to it with his hard work and confidence scoring 870th rank in the Central Service Examination in the year 2010.

Manoj Roy who is 35, spends his weekends tuning poor students of his state to help them crack the UPSC Civil Service Examination. He says, "The service is absolutely FREE!!".

He travels around 110 Kms from Nalanda, where he is posted as an Administrative Officer at Rajgir Ordnance Factory, to Patna every weekend, to train his students.

He said "When I cracked the Civil Service Examination in my fourth attempt, I thought about many youngsters who could not afford the costly coaching. So, I decided to extend my help to them."

"I was allotted the IOFS on the basis of my rank in the UPSC exam," he said

He started providing free coaching to deserving and poor students soon after he was posted at Rajgir. He said, "Most of my students belong to poor or lower middle class families".
His mission to help Civil Service aspirants is also supported by his wife Anupama Kumari, a Deputy Collector in Patna city.

Most of his successful students bound their success to Manoj Roy. One of his students, Reshu Krishna, who secured 13th rank in BPSC examination is qualified for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police. She said that, she could succeed and benefit only because of Roy's classes.
