Prof Muzammil has been appointed for a three year term.
Moreover, he is presently the VC of Mahatma Jyotibaphule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. He took charge of Rohilkhand University in April, 2012.

Prof Muzammil, 60, did his PhD in economics from Lucknow University in 1985. His thesis, "Financing of education in Uttar Pradesh", was later published as a book. Later, he did post doctoral research on "Human Development in South Asia" as a visiting fellow in South Asian Visiting Scholarship Programme, Oxford University.
UP government conferred the Saraswati Samman on him in 2011 for his contribution to higher education. In 2010, he was awarded Shikshak Shree Samman by the state government.
Prof Muzammil is also a recipient of Govind Ballabh Pant Economics Award (2000). With a vast teaching experience of 37 years, Prof Muzammil is also the chairman of LU's Annual Reports Committee.
He has also written six books in English, Hindi and Urdu, besides several project reports and more than 100 articles in research journals and e-journals. His articles have been published in prominent international newspapers including The Guardian and Financial Express, London.
