Seats for M.D. in Medical Colleges increased

The number of seats in Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology and Oncology Super Specialties available in medical colleges in the country are at Annexed.

Intake capacity of postgraduate and Superspecialty seats in medical colleges during last three academic year and the current year is as follows:

The number of postgraduate seats available in existing medical colleges is not sufficient to meet the shortage of Specialists in the country.

However, in order to increase the number of postgraduate seats in the country, teacher-student ratio has been rationalized depending upon disciplines and availability of faculty.

Further, financial assistance has been granted to 72 State Govt. medical colleges under the Scheme for "Strengthening and upgradation of Govt. medical colleges" to increase PG seats in various disciplines
