Girl ends life over not getting admission to desired course

Anantapur, (PTI): A teenage girl from Anantasagaram village allegedly committed suicide today for not getting admission in the teacher training certificate course, police said.

Malleshwari passed the intermediate examination but could not secure the admission to pursue the course as she did not do well in the admission test, they said.

Her father said in the complaint that he was asked to pay bribe to secure a seat for Malleshwari, police said.

The girls' father however did not mention who asked him to pay bribe and of what amount. Malleshwari was depressed over not getting the admission and consumed pesticide at her house.

She died on her way to hospital in Banagalure, police said.
