IIM Kozhikode Admitting more Than 50% of Women Candidates

IIM Kozhikode seems like paying more attention towards Women Education by admitting nearly 200 women in its Post Graduate Programme (PGP) for the academic session 2013-15.

According to the sources, a total of about 361 students have been admitted under PGP batch no. 17 among which 361 are men and rest 196 are women candidates.

It is said that IIM-K has admitted most talented students this year with a diverse talent profile such as Ms. Priya Chandak who has represented India in the world Skating Championships ; Ms. Prakriti Sharma a national level swimmer and basketball player; Ms. V. Lekshmi All India Topper in CBSE in 2007. Sounds great, isn't it.

Moreover, the batch consists of students with 0-24 months' work experience, adding further to the diversity of students. This batch consists of students from all corners of the country - Southern India (27%), Western India (26%), Northern India (19%), Eastern India (12%), Union Territories including Delhi (11%) and Central India (5%). Students from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Tripura and Jharkhand add more cultural diversity to the PGP 17 batch

The 17th batch includes 85% of students with bachelor degree in Engineering and Technology, 11% from the Commerce & Economics stream and 4% students from Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Agriculture .

Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, told "We at IIM Kozhikode aspire to create a unique academic space that will challenge convention. This year we have not only led in ensuring gender diversity but have also admitted national talent from the field of sports, music, martial arts and the social sector. Our goal is to churn out not just a competent manager but a well rounded and a compassionate human being. In this endeavour, the current batch of students will be our pathfinders."
