IIM Shillong welcomes Prof Amitabh De as Its New Director

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has appointed long time NITIE professor Dr Amitabha De as new director of IIM Shillong.

Prof. Amitabha De took over as the second Director of IIM Shillong on 17 June, 2013. Prof. De was Director at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai before joining as Director, IIM Shillong.

Speaking on his appointment, Dr Amitabha De thanked the Ministry of Human Resource Development for giving him responsibility to lead the institute as its director.

For last one year, Dr Keya Sengupta who is a Professor of Economics and Dean, Research and the Chair of the Fellow Programme in at IIM Shillong, was leading the institute as its acting director. Dr Sengupta became the acting director after the institute bid farewell to its first director Prof Ashoke K Dutta in June last year.

Prof De did his M. Sc. and Ph. D. from the University of Calcutta, West Bengal, India and has widespread expertise in ergonomics, human factors engineering, biomechanics, executive work and work stress, and human factors in technology management.
