VTU signs MoU with National Board of Accreditation

VTU signs MoU with NBA, New Delhi
Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum and National Board of Accreditation (NBA) on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to take up programmes to improve quality of technical education.

 

University Vice-Chancellor H Maheshappa said, "all these days, NBA was insisting qualitative developments of the institutions for accreditation purposes but after the Washington and UK Education Accords with India,"

"NBA is insisting qualitative improvement of technical education. In this direction, NBA has recognized 15 nodal centers in the country to create awareness and conduct the training for 'outcome based education (OBE) and 'outcome based accreditation (OBA), 'faculty development program (FDP). Considering the capabilities of VTU, NBA has recognized VTU as the nodal center for conducting the outcome based training programmes," he said.

VTU has identified five centers at Bangalore, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Mysore and Davangere to conduct these workshops.

D K Paliwal, member secretary, NBA said, "MoU with VTU is a historical step as it will help students, faculty and management officials in improving the knowledge of engineering students after they pass out".

On the occasion, he also mentioned that NBA Regional Center would be established at VTU Regional Center premises at Bangalore for administrative convenience.
