"I received many complaints from the UPSC aspirants in Jharkhand about the state not having a single centre for the mains examination. I have spoken to the Union government, UPSC and union minister of state for personnel V Narayansamy who have assured that Ranchi will also be a centre for UPSC (Main) examination,"said, Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh.
Till date there has not been a single year when there was a centre of UPSC (Main) examination in Ranchi or anywhere in the state. This is a big problem for those who clear the preliminary test and have to appear for the mains.
Sanjiv Kumar, who cleared the UPSC (Main) examination previous year but was rejected in the interview said, "Appearing in preliminary test is easy as we have a centre in Ranchi. But, after passing the test we have to go to other states to give the mains examination."
Sandeep Kumar, an aspirant of UPSC from Godda said "Appearing for the mains examination is a huge problem for the financially weak students. Coming to Ranchi to sit for an examination is still affordable but going to some other state for appearing in an examination is costly. It will cost me at least Rs 5,000 to go somewhere else for a day or two."
UPSC aspirants reciting in Ranchi are now relaxed with the newly added centre by which they can attend the UPSC civil services examination in their own district.
