IGNOU offers New Bachelors and Masters Degree Course

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers Bachelor Degree Programme in Social Work (BSW) meant for people who are interested in providing professional assistance to people in need. Persons with professional training/degree in Social Work generally work in socially relevant areas such as health care, community development, education, industry, counselling, social defence, women, children, disability etc.

With the globalization, market economy and liberalisation, new concerns and human problems are emerging which need to be addressed. This programme will be particularly useful to people employed at middle and lower levels with NGOs. It will also be useful to equip candidates with skills who may like to work in social and social welfare sectors.

Bachelor in Social Work aims at generating a workforce to meet the growing demand for professionally trained social workers at the middle and lower level particularly in the social welfare and NGO sectors. The programme is of 96 credits.

Eligibility for Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is 10+2 or its equivalent for non 10+2 students an addition 6 months programme of Bachelor's Preparatory Programme (BPP) from IGNOU is required. The programme can be completed in 3 years and maximum of six years.

IGNOU also offers Master of Arts in Tourism Management (MTM) Programme designed for those students who are interested in pursuing a career in tourism sector at managerial level. This is for aspiring entrepreneurs or those running their own tourism agencies. The programme consists of four semesters.

Eligibility for MTM is as following:

Category 1: BTS,BA (Tourism); B.Sc. 4 Years (Tourism Management) Hospitality and Hotel Administration(BHM); Bachelor's in Hotel Management (approved by AICTE) and those students who have done their graduation in any field along with a Diploma in Tourism, which is recognized in the University System or by AICTE.

Category 2 : A Bachelor's Degree in any field. (However, all students of Category 2 will have to pass four additional Tourism foundation courses during their period of study.)
