Dr M. Rajaram, Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Anna University

Dr. M. Rajaram, newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Anna University called on Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha and received her wishes.

He was earlier vice-chancellor of the Anna University of Technology, Tirunelveli.

Addressing reporters, he vowed to take the advice of the university's academic council, syndicate and faculty members to ensure efficient functioning.

"Starting this year I will make efforts to ensure employment for all engineering graduates. This will ensure no seat in engineering colleges goes vacant," Rajaram said.

He said faculty development programmes would be prepared to act as refreshers for teachers in all engineering colleges. They will incorporate the latest technology and will be held in the regional centres, Rajaram said.

Efforts would be made to improve faculty-student interaction, and ensure transparent and efficient administration of the university. "I will keep the chief minister's Vision 2020 in mind to make Anna University, which has 550 affiliated colleges, a top technical institution," Rajaram added.

New VC appointed for Anna University

Dr. M. Rajaram was born on 4th June, 1958 in Theni district. Dr. M. Rajaram got his B.E degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from ACCET, Karaikudi affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University in 1981. He did his M.E in Power Systems from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore affiliated to Bharathiyar University in 1988. He received his Ph.D degree from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore affiliated to Bharathiyar University in 1994. Dr. M. Rajaram to satisfy his passion for teaching and research took up the job as Lecturer in Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli in 1982.

Dr. M. Rajaram was subsequently appointed as Senior Lecturer, Selection Grade Lecturer at various Government Colleges of Tamil Nadu during 1982-1997. In addition to teaching at the colleges, he had also worked as an administrator for student associations and laboratories.'In 1997 he was deputed to Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai to administer the admission process of students into engineering colleges, polytechnics and catering technologies in Tamilnadu.

Dr. M. Rajaram was elevated to Assistant Professor in the year 2000 and as Professor in the year 2004 and served many government engineering colleges in Tamilnadu. Dr. M. Rajaram has headed DEEE and DCSE in various government colleges in Tamilnadu during the period 2004-10.
