The results of the ICSE (class 10) 2013 examinations were declared on May 17 while the deadline set by the department for issue of application forms by its PU colleges was over almost a week earlier on May 11. The mismatch of dates denied admission to ICSE students, who are now a very upset regarding their admissions.
Alisha who cleared her class 10 exams in ICSE said "I approached MES college for admission to PCMB course in state syllabus, but was told that the last date to issue applications were over. We have got our results just a few days back and how could we apply according to the calendar the department has set."
Like Alisha, many students who are aspiring to switch over to state syllabus are struggling hard to get admissions. "I too tried in four prime colleges in the city, but all of them said last date is over, and even the selection list has been announced," said Sumana.
The crisis is likely to worsen in the last week of the month when the results of CBSE class 10 of 2013 exams are expected to be declared. Officials of the PUE department said they were "helpless" in addressing the students' problem, although they are aware that many students switch over to state syllabus after class 10.
"ICSE and CBSE students find it easy to clear CET by switching over to PU. That is the only reason for their demand to get admission to PU courses," said an official on condition of anonymity.
Puttaiah, joint director administration said "We released the calendar for admissions to PU courses after cross checking everything. We cannot do anything if a few students have a problem with that and if at all they need any help, they must approach our director at the PUE department."
