Miranda Mongbijam, a student of Nirmalabas School and daughter of M Iboyaima and Nongmaithem Premila of Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Laikei in Imphal West district topped the HSLC exam scoring a total of 480 marks out of 500 (96 percent) while Keisham Luxmirani, daughter of K Rojenkumar and K Sarda Devi of Haobam Marak Kiesham Leikai, also from Imphal West district obtained a total of 479 marks and Ratimanjuri Devi Hajarimayum, daughter of H Rajesh Sharma and GA Mirabai Devi of Khwai Brahmapur Nagamapal, also in Imphal West district scored a total of 478 marks.
State Education minister while formally declaring the results at his office chamber in the Old Secretariat, said the pass percentage this year has shot up as compared to the previous year. A total of 24267 got through the exam with the pas percentage turning out to be 72, he added. A total of 33771 candidates enrolled for the HSLC exam 2013, but 33579 appeared it.
In the examination, 10,668 candidates passed in the first division, 12452 in the second division and 1147 in the third division, he said. He was also very proud to declare that this time, Nongthonbam Khagemba Meitei, a student of Lamding High School, Thoubal district, a government run Model School bagged the 23rd position in the exam. There are currently 10 Model Schools across the state set up by the state government with the sole objective to make academic improvement in the government run schools.
The minister further said that the government would give incentive awards to the student and teachers of this school, reiterating that toppers are awarded regularly by the government.
