
The award has given to the institute at the 'World Education Summit 2013'.
The summit held by Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd. Organisations such as the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India; All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE); United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET); the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India; National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT); and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have been key partners in the World Education Summit since its inception.
The award recognised several innovations in IITGN's undergraduate programme, such as the unique five-week immersion foundation programme, a compulsory course on design and innovation, options for Honours and Minors, emphasis on project-based teaching and a unique 'comprehensive viva-voce' of each student 's regular semester to identify their talents and weaknesses.
Sudhir Jain, director, IITGN, said, "The award is a testimony to the pedagogical contributions of our exceptional faculty and innovations that make our educational programs so distinctive."
The award has given by Mantriprasad Naithani, minister, School Education, Adult Education, Sanskrit Education, Government of Uttarakhand; Shahid Ali Khan, minister of Minority Welfare and IT, Government of Bihar; Lt Boris Jelovšek, minister plenipotentiary, Republic of Slovenia.
