Status of Newly launched AIIMS
The central Government on 28th June 2012 had decided to start six-AIIMS-like (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) institutes in various states from this academic year and admissions to them will start by the end of September.

The institutes have been set up under the lines of AIIMS-Delhi (All India Institute of Medical Sciences).

The institutes are brought up at Patna in Bihar, Bhubaneshwar in Odisha, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, Raipur in Chhattisgarh and Bhopal in Madhya pradesh.

Academic session for 50 MBBS seats at each of the six AIIMS has commenced in September, 2012.

The work of hospitals is in full swing and these are to start during current financial year. The details of funds spent upto 31st March, 2013 in each of the AIIMS are given below:

A budget provision of Rs.1975 crore has been envisaged for all PMSSY projects including the six new AIIMS during 2013-14.

This information was given by the Minister for Health & Family Welfare Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabhaon Tuesday.
