Bangalore University official website lacks Colleges & Courses Info

It has been found that the Bangalore University official website lacks details on affiliated colleges and Courses offered by the university.

Students are requesting the officials of the university to provide proper information on website regarding the admissions, counselling, courses, colleges affiliated to the University and more. A total of 650 colleges are affiliated to Bangalore University.

In most cases when Students or Parents visit the universities official website and find no updates, makes them feel unsafe to get admission in any of the colleges related to the varsity. In such case a college/university which has been represented in the top list looses its importance/identity among the visitors.

Commenting on the issue, Vice-Chancellor Prof B Thimme Gowda said, "The university has received applications for affiliation of institutes for the academic year 2013-14 and the Local Inquiry Committees (LICs) have been sent to verify the facts submitted. The reports of LICs will be presented before the Syndicate and Academic Council for approval. As and when this process if over, the details of the colleges and courses offered will be hosted on the BU website".

BU official website lacks Proper Info

"For this academic year, the affiliation process will be conducted at Central College. Even after the proposed bifurcation of the university, this process will continue. After the bifurcation, the universities will give the affiliation to the constituent colleges in their respective jurisdictions", he said.

The proposal for bifurcation of the university has not yet been approved by the Governor.

Dr M Prakash, principal, Seshadripuram College, said, "There is a need to provide authentic and transparent information to students and parents. By putting out the details of affiliated colleges and recognised courses on the website, students will be able to judge the authenticity of the institutions.

"It is a known fact that several colleges that would have sought approval for one or two courses would have started other courses without the university's knowledge, hence putting the students' careers at stake. With all the information available on the university's official website, like details of courses, fees, seats and accreditation, students will be able to select the right institution."
