They also said that, they were forced to sign the bonds that said 'they would not be promoted and should not leave the institution without completing the course'.
The team was headed by the Director of Student Affairs, Anna University- Dr.S Ganesan. Senior professors from its affiliation department and the examination wing had visited the college in Somangalam near Kundrathur to investigate.
A student said "The head of the department asked us to write what he wanted on a 20-stamp paper and made us sign on it". "The administration is also demanding students to pay full fees for the entire course even if we wanted to discontinue and apply for transfer certificate from the college," another student said.
P Kaliraj, in-charge of Anna University said "At least 100 students are said to have been affected. The college administration can take disciplinary action against students and make them clear an exam, but it can neither restrict them from appearing in an exam nor detain them for not clearing a few papers".
While the officials of the respected college had refused to comment on the situation, Kaliraj said "We will ensure that students take their exams and they are promoted too".
