Students of Grades 3-6 went on a Heritage Walk to Humayun's Tomb accompanied by Ms. Guneet, Ms. Charu and Ms. Gagandeep on account of World Heritage Day.
Ms. Vardhana, our guide, took the students around the entire place and told them the importance of our heritage, the different types of archaeological and architectural splendor and the historical background of India (invaders and the rulers).
Around the site we explored the tomb of Isa Khan, Afsarwala Tomb (Tomb of the Architect), Bu Halima's Tomb and Arab Ki Serai (built by Lodhi where in plants were at such a height that fruits and flowers could be easily plucked).
Children discovered that the Char Baghs represent ‘Paradise' as explained in the Holy Book - Quran. Students went inside Humayun's Tomb to see the cenotaph's of Humayun, his wife and other members of the royal family. It was a great learning experience for the students as well as for the teachers. With this excursion we paid tribute to the abundantly rich heritage of our country.
