TN Govt Allots Rs.150 Cr For Edu'n Dept
The Tamil Nadu Government on Monday has allotted Rs.150 Crore for Education Department in order to improve Higher education across State.

TN Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the assembly said "The department buildings, hostels and other infrastructure such ass drinking water tanks and power stations would be constructed in districts like Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin, Nagercoil, Tanjavur and Cuddalore."

She further said that a Research and Education Centre would be set up at a cost of Rs. 25 Lakh each in Universities namely Madras University, Madurai Kamaraj Univeristy, Bharathiar University, Bharathidasan University, Annai Terasa Women's University, Alagappa University, Manommoniam Sundaranar University, Periyar University and Tiruvalluvar University.

Moreover, along with these developments, the state shall have two more colleges in coming years which includes an Engineering College at Srirangam near Tiruchirapalli and a polytechnic college at Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai districts. Also, a total of 12 arts and science colleges including one for Women candidates and another at Tittakudi in Cuddalore district would also be started by this year, she added.

On raising the importance of Women education she also stated that, for women, an arts and science college at Veppur in Perambur district and another at Tittakudi is cuddalore district will also be started this yr.

It seems like Tamil Nadu is highly giving importance for Quality education and Women Education by bringing up more universities for Higher Education across the state.
