Historic Performance of Resonance Students in KVPY

Mumbai, 1st April, 2013: Following up on exceptional results in Stage-I of KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana), A Prestigious Scholarship Program run by Government of India to promote Basic Science in Students, total 137 Resonance Students have been awarded fellowship and mentorship in KVPY-2012.

Giving a historic performance 3 Classroom Students of Resonance have secured ranks in Top-10. Aniket Bajpai from Mumbai Study Center has achieved AIR-2, while Parth Sharma from Kota Center has got AIR-7 and Kushal Babel from Udaipur Center has got AIR-8. Total 12 Classroom Students are in Top-100 of KVPY Merit.

Out of Total 208 Students selected in Stage-I of KVPY, 107 students are awarded KVPY Fellowship and 30 students are selected for Mentorship Programs making a total of 137 selections out of total 1490 fellowships and 275 Mentorships awarded to students across India.

Out of these 137 students, 89 students are from regular classroom program while 41 students are from Distance Learning Program & 7 students are from e-Learning program. Selections from Institute's Kota Study Centre are 41, Jaipur Study Centre 17, Udaipur 10, Mumbai 8, Lucknow 3, Bhopal 3, Nagpur 3, Ajmer 2, Kolkata 1 and 1 Student from Ahmedabad Study Center.

KVPY is an annual exam conducted for Science Students of Class XI, XII & College going students. The Exam is conducted in two stages. Stage-1 is the written test followed by an Interview (Stage-2). It is an on-going National Program initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally and highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and career in research. The fellowship amount for School & College going students varies from 48000/- to 84000/- annually & these students are also provided annual contingency grant of Rs. 16000/- to Rs. 28000/-.

Earlier KVPY used to award only Fellowships, however from this year it is also selecting students for its new Mentorship program, wherein students will be given scholarship only during Graduation and Post-Graduation in basic sciences only, while scholarship under regular fellowship program starts immediately till their post-graduation in basic sciences.
