DU: Anthardhvani's 'Delhi Wall Book' Paintings

The Delhi University North Campus wall stretching continuously for a Kilometer and sectioned off into 138 parts looked really colourful. Around 500 artists came together to express their outrage of Issues in India and social evils like crime and corruption, and yes their paintings could say more than words.

 

There were individuals or groups of graphic artists and painters creating murals on a common theme 'Design the Change". The event "Delhi Wall Book" were organized by Tata Housing and Brand Promotions Ltd in its endeavour to support art and culture. A similar event was done earlier in Mumbai last year as "Visualize Mumbai".

It was a three day programme. And , in the span of three days, over 1,50,000 people flocked to the stadium complex of Delhi University to enjoy Antardhvani's many offerings. Specially appreciated was the Innovation Plaza which presented 113 interdisciplinary projects from colleges and also 20 stalls from the Cluster Innovation Centre, and the institute of Life Long Learning.

Presenting music of outstanding quality, the Equal opportunity cell was prominent at the Inauguration and the Valedictory sessions. Traditional games like kite flying and sitolia were also enjoyed by many. The hub for conversations was IRCTC's multi cuisine food court with delicious and moderately priced items.

Prize Details: The highlight at the Valedictory function with Chief Guest Shri Ashok Thahur, Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, announced the awards of Good Practice to colleges and departments. The prices are as following: Agrasen College was awarded Rs.10 Lakh, Kalindi College Rs.7 Lakhs, Acharya Narendra Dev College Rs.5Lakhs and Commendation prizes of Rs.1 Lakh each were given to Bhagat Singh College, Shivaji College and the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board.

In the category of Departmnts of the University, the Physics Department was awarded Rs.10 Lakhs, Psychology Department Rs.7 Lakhs and Geology Department Rs.5 Lakhs. Commendation prizes of Rs.1 Lakh each were given to the Persian Department, Department of Slavonic and Finno Ugrian Studies, Law Centre and the Department of Zoology.
