State Medical Education Minister, Anup Mishra said that the state will hols the state level Pre Medical test (PMT) for the admissions, which means the state will abandon National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2013.
"The final decision will be taken after the discussing with the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan," said Anup Mishra.
MP government decided to go with NEET PG 2013 for postgraduate medical courses as announced by the Chief Minister last month, the confusion among the medical aspirants has compounded.
Even if Govt decides to conduct the PMT by the end of February month, the exam cannot be held before the June, because MP professional Examination Board requires minimum of 90 days to accomplish all the preparations for the entrance test. If the test held in June, then the results only by the month's end or in July.
The entire confusion began after the Medical Council of India decided to introduce NEET for Medical / Dental courses admissions across the country.
The NEET was deferred for a year as the state governments sought more time to implement it, but even now, the MP government has failed to tale final call in this regard.
The Supreme court postponed the hearing on Feb 13, leading to speculation that a verdict may take time to arrive.
According to the sources, the government is under pressure in the face of arguments, mainly put up by private Medical/Dental colleges owners that not many students of the state would be able to clear the NEET considered to be a tougher test, and thus the seats from the state's government and private colleges would be taken up by the other state students.
However, candidates feel that whatever will be decision, it should be taken early they are able to make suitable preparations. The NEET UG 2013 for undergraduate medical courses will be conducted on May 05, 2013 by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
