CET Postgraduate Courses To Get 50% Weightage

CET PG Studies Gets 50% Weightage
Inspite of students opposing the CET for admissions to State Universities for Post Graduate studies the Government is still firm on holding the Common Entrance Test. But Why?

The CET committee has proposed that, 50% weightage shall be given to CET scores while the other 50% shall be decided by the respective universities. The committee says that the decision is taken, keeping in mind- the University autonomy.

Before, in the month of October Medical Students of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government College have formed hand-in-hand protest against Centre's proposal which had announced to introduce NEET for PG Courses. Candidates who completes the course shall be eligible for posting in Primary Health Care Centres.

The CET Committee has ensured that the universities can hold interviews, written examination or give points based on the performance of students at the graduation level.

An official from Higher Education Council said "All students who will be graduating in 2013 will have to appear in CET in June. The PG starting from August onwards, will be filled by students who clear the CET. Later a merit list will be published based on the CET Scores."

"Then students can apply to various universities in their preferred subject based on the score. The universities may also prepare a list depending on the CET rank. They will have to clear the university's own selection process", he added.
