The announcement of this admission time table, which needs to be implemented, is seen as stand taken by the state to ensure that the act is followed properly. The academic session 2012-13 was almost a mess with many schools reporting their admissions to fulfill the RTE quota, hence the education department wanted to formulate a time table for the act's implementation.
From Jan 01 to 10, the education department has been asked to form district level monitoring committee for overseeing the admission process. Also, authorities have been asked to upload all RTE details on their website so that prospective applicants can clarify their doubts. All the private schools will have to start distributing the admission application forms and put the details on their notice board from Jan 11-30.
From Feb 1-15, received application form will be analyzed. If a form is rejected then the school will have to assign reasons for it and notify the parents within three days. Schools will also have to inform the local education officials.
The actual admission process will be carried between Feb 16 and 20. The government has reiterated that if the applications are more than the number of seats available then lottery system will have to be followed. The local education department has already started the admission process to ensure that the city again fares well in RTE admission.
Mahesh Karajgaonkar, Deputy Director of Education met some principals to oversee the formation of school management committee and discuss plans for a centralized admission process.
