Shri Oommen Chandy, Hon'ble Kerala Chief Minister will inaugurate the State Children's Science Congress on December 3 (Today) at Maria Rani Convention Centre, Sreekariyam here. Shri PK Abdu Rabb, Hon'ble Kerala Minister for Education will preside over the event. Shri MA Waheed MLA will also speak on the occasion.
The Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) is coordinating the activities of the Children's Science Congress in the state, being organised with the support of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Prof VN Rajasekharan Pillai, Executive Vice President, KSCSTE & Principal Secretary, Science & Technology Department; Shri A Shajahan, Director of Public Instructions; Prof CP Aravindakshan, Chairman, State Organising Committee, SCSC; and Prof KP Thrivikramji, State Academic Coordinator, SCSC will also participate in the inaugural function.
"As many as 225 students presented varied and innovative projects revolving around the core theme in the district level competitions. The outstanding 68 projects will be showcased in the state contests. Schools should forward the project reports and other particulars of participating students through their respective District Coordinators," said Dr Kamalakshan Kokkal, State Coordinator, Organising Committee, Children's Science Congress in Kerala.
The main theme of this edition of Science Congress is Energy Exploration and Conservation.
"To facilitate the representation of all districts at the state level competition, we have decided to reimburse second-class train fare to the participating students and accompanying teachers. Arrangements for their stay have also been taken care of," Dr Kokkal added, even while stating that separate communications will not be sent out to schools.
Shri G Karthikeyan, Hon'ble Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly will give away awards to the selected projects at the valedictory function to be held here on the evening of December 4.
The winners from Kerala will leave on December 22 to participate in the 20th National Children's Science Congress at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh from December 27-31.
