Mr.Pallam Raju, has accepted the invitation to lay the foundation stone extended by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, who held a meeting with him, yesterday at 7:45 PM at New Delhi.
Kapil Sibal, as the HRD Minister, had visited the state capital Itanagar on October 12, 2012. He had attended the 3rd convocation of the North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology and was scheduled to lay the foundation stone of NIT.
However, he had to cut short his visit due to time constraint but had assured to come back soon to complete his unfinished job of laying the foundation stone of the NIT.
During the conversation held with the former HRDM, Mr.Tuki sought special focus of the Centre for development of infrastructure in the education sector. He said, the Rajiv Gandhi Central University along with upcoming universities in the State needed special packages from the Centre for development of the requisite infrastructure. He specially drew the attention of the union minister towards the plight of teachers those who were employed under SSA.
He infact appealed Mr.Pallam Raju to release the Central Grants for SSA regularly on time so that salaries of the teachers could be distributed on time, every month. He said that, due to the financial crunch the state government is not able to regularize the jobs of hundreds of SSA teachers and in this backdrop it would be a sin not to be able to pay them their monthly salary regularly and on time.
He also pleaded saying that "We have a genuine problem of SSA teachers who are dedicatedly working in remote villages across the state. We are not able to deliver to their expectations and the Central Government has to help us to help them tide over their problems and grievances".
The Newly appointed HRDM, assured Mr.Tuki that there would be no shortfalls from his Ministry and development of education scenario of Arunachal Pradesh would continue in an accelerated pace.
