The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-GN), has introduced a new course in Seismic design course to train civil engineers and senior professionals on earthquake-safe constructions.

It is a short term course, 'Seismic Design of Re-informed Concrete Buildings' will be conducted from November 26 to November 30 wherein participants will be taught seismic design procedures for multi storied reinforced concrete buildings.

"The idea is to enable engineers to plan and direct construction activities appropriately" said the IIT-Gandhinagar director, Prof. Sudhir Jain.

Objective Of Course:
The aim of the course is to provide the participants an overview on seismic design procedures for multi-storied reinforced concrete buildings. At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:

  • Have an overall understanding of the seismic design concepts, procedures and current practices to enable them to plan and direct the construction activity appropriately.
  • Understand the methodology of seismic design to be able to execute a proper design.
  • Have a better appreciation of various construction details with respect to seismic response.

How To Get Registered:
The course fee is Rs. 18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen Thousand Only) per participant. It includes course material, lunch, and tea breaks. The fee is payable in advance by a crossed draft in favor of Course on SEISMIC DESIGN, IIT Gandhinagar. The students and faculty of structural engineering may request a discount in course fee.
