He said "This has been possible due to an initiative taken by the Board of Directors Indian Schools in Sultanate of Oman to which Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi responded favorably by including Muscat as a centre of JEE (Main) from April 2013 Onwards."
When it come to the JEE centre in gulf region there were only 3 centres namely Dubai, Bahrain and Riyadh. The main focus of this decision was to help students traveling far only to take up such exams. Yes, Students from Oman had to travel to India or other Gulf centres in order to appear for exams soon after their class 12 Board examinations. Hence, this centre shall be the biggest for such students and their parents as well, who face crucial juncture of the academic careers of their Children.
Moreover, in addition to the advantage of appearing in one entrance exam for colleges in India, students can now take up this exam in Oman itself. This will help in the continuity of Preparations soon after the Board exams. It would also [provide adequate emotional support to students during the preparatory period for JEE (Mains).
ISM is not just going to be the centre for JEE but already a dedicated centre for SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), the scores of which helps in seeking admission in foreign universities. Now, the availability of Indian School Muscat as a centre for JEE will provide a big fillip of the fulfilling of the academic aspirants those reside in Muscat; informed Mr. Tonny George Alexander.
