North Zone Inter University Youth Festival Begins

28th Inter University Youth Festival
Finally, its the time of celebration for all university students in North India. Yes!, the 28th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival of the Universities from all over Northern India will be inaugurated today i.e. the 7th of November at Sports Grounds of the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU).

The official notification said "The North Zone Inter University Youth Festival will be organized and hosted by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (Punjab) and will be conducted under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. It is being financed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India."

 

This festival is organized under the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. It is scheduled to be held from 7th to 11th Nov, 2012.

Dr. Inderjit Singh, GNDU Registrar, informed on Tuesday that all essential arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of this event. He also revealed that the festival would be started with a cultural procession of student-artist from various Universities which would start from Guru Nanak Bhawan of the University to the Sports Grounds of the University.

A few world famous folk singers like Jasbir Jassi, Amrinder Gill, Sarabjit Cheema, Roshan Prince and Satinder Satti who are also the alumni of GUDU would specially participate in the inaugural function.

Youth Welfare Director Dr.Jagjit Kaur said "The competitions of Music, Theater, Dance, Literary and Fine Arts would be organized during this five day festival. She said the eminent personalities related to film industry, music, theater and fine arts were also expected to attend this festival.

Please Note : Accompanists would preferably be the students, who will be given participation certificates. However, outsiders may be allowed if suitable students are not available. At the most 8 outsider accompanists are allowed, who will be included in the contingent of 40. A student, who has participated in Solo events of the Inter-University National Youth Festival for three years, would not be permitted to participate in the UNIFESTS.
