Class12 Girls Punished. Rs.5000 Compensation Paid

Four Class 12 Girls Punished By Teacher
This is an recent issue, where four girls who belonged to class 12 were punished by teacher Razia Bano for not doing their homework during which these girls were not even allowed to drink water or answer to nature's call. The girls had to be admitted to a hospital because of this act.

The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has recommended the State Government to pay a compensation of Rs.5000 each to four girls who were made to stand for hours as punishment. This incident took place in Burhanpur district.

The Officials said that the recommendation to pay this sum to the four students was given by MPHRC's Acting Chairman Justice AK Saxena yesterday following a complaint raised on this issue. The MPHRC further recommended to give training in child psychology to teachers so that they are sensitive to the needs of their students.

A show-cause notice has been issued to the women teacher under section 16 of the MPHRC Act and observed that even today the teachers believed in the old method of giving homework to students and it appears that they have been unable to adapt to the modern day methods.

The acting chairman also wrote that there was a time when teachers were treated as their ideals by students but this is gradually fading from the society.
