The Ministry of Science and Technology Department of Science and Technology invites application for the "Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)" which is a component of the 'Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)'.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for Scholarship for Higher education (SHE). A total of Rs.10,000 scholarships are limited only to the candidates studying courses in natural/basic sciences at B.Sc, B.Sc(Hons), integrated institutions in India. The scheme in its current format does not include courses in Engineering, medicine, technology and other professional/applied science courses.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidates will be selected based on Performance in Board Examination within the cut-off threshold (of top 1%) for each State or Central Board of Examination at Class 12 level or performance in any of the specified Competitive Examinations within stipulated cut off ranks and recipient of various scholarships and medals.
  • Student who have passed Class 12 board exams in subject to evaluation as per respective Boards actual cut-off which will be finalized later.
  • The eligible candidates must be already enrolled into degree level education in natural/basic sciences in any recognized College or University in India.

Eligible candidates will receive annually scholarship at total value of Rs.80000 per candidate. The cash value payable to the SHE scholarship holder is Rs.60,000 per annum along with Summer time attachment fee of Rs.20,000 which will be paid to the mentoring institution for undertaking summer time project.

Please note: Selected candidates will be supported for a maximum period of five years starting from 1st year course in (Hons) and integrated course leading to M.S or M.Sc or till Completion of the course, which ever is earlier.
