IIST, Kerala Accepts JEE Main
The Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram a deemed university at Valiyamala, accepts Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Paper 1 scores, which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to its B.Tech programmes.

IIST is Asia's first Space Institute & the first in the world and research centre under the Department of Space will discontinue its separate admission test ISAT.

The Union government had taken a decision earlier that all universities, including those with deemed status, must adopt the JEE Main for admission to Undergraduate professional engineering and technology programmes.

The JEE Main rank list will be prepared by giving 40% or marks in the qualifying board examination and 60% to the JEE Main score. For appearing for the test, candidates have to pass Class 12 board exam in 2013.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Delhi Technological University will also admit the students using the JEE Main rank list. The examination will be conducted in April 2013, detailed notification will announced soon.

The IIST offers B.Tech programmes in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and Physical Sciences. A total of 156 seats are available for the programmes. There is no tuition fee and the entire expense of the education here will be met by the Department of Space. Boarding and lodging are free. Book allowance and assistanceship will be paid.

Those obtaining minimum 65% marks in B.Tech Programme will be appointed as Scientist/Engineer in the Indian Space Research Organisation and can pursue higher studies. The campus is located at Valiamala, 18 kms from Thiruvananthapuram city, on the way to the famous hill resort of Ponmudi. Modern environmentally friendly buildings of unique architecture merge well with the thickly wooded campus of 100 acres situated on the foot hills of Sahyadri.
