The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi issues a list of unauthorised institutions list in India.
According to the AICTE's list, 23 institutions in Bangalore offering technical programmes without apex body's approval and not only in bangalore, other states like Maharashtra with 125 disapproved institutions, Delhi with 64 institutions, Andhra Pradesh with 43 institutions and many more in other state.
Provided further that any Institution offering technical programme without approval the Council, shall be termed as unapproved if:
- It is started without approval by the Council.
- It is working in temporary location / at location not approved by the Council.
- It is declared as "Unapproved" by the Council.
The Council shall maintain a list of un-approved institutions based on the information received by the council and shall also inform the general public about the same from time to time.
The AICTE list speaks volumes of the standards of technical and management education on the IT city.
Hari Krishna Maram, Governing Council Member, AICTE said, "Bangalore garners the lions share of disapproved colleges as it is the hub of education in Karnataka".
"The council had been acting strict and even a slight deviation from rules is costing affiliation to many colleges. Moreover, the council's rules are getting more stringent. For example, AICTE says a colleges with an intake of 120 should also have at least 120 desktops as part of its infrastructure" he added.
