Students Of NET Approaches Court-Plea Against UGC

Students Against UGC-AnswerSheets Ruined
NET (National Eligibility Test) candidates who have cleared the exam and eligible to be hired as lecturers across nation are against UGC (University Grants Commission).

Candidates in Nagpur say that, the reason is a footnote in a recent notification of UGC during declaration of their NET results. Neha Babde Gadekar is a contributory lecturer at the law department of Nagpur University (NU) said the UGC had mentioned that it will destroy the answer sheets within 30 days of results after being declared.

"In case, if we need to challenge anything beyond that 30 day period and file a RTI (Right To Information), then UGC can always back out, saying they do not have any answer sheet records with them. Also, everyone is allowed a 30-day period to reply to RTI replies", she said.

She and other candidates in Nagpur are now preparing to approach the high court against this 30 day clause. "We have other issues against the UGC too, such as changing the NET eligibility criteria without informing in advance. We are getting support from candidates from outside Nagpur as well and are preparing our brief". She added.

However, the group of candidates have requested other people who wish to join the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to send their contact details to net.nagpur@gmail.com.

What do you think about the issue. Is it right to destroy the answer scripts after the exams. What is your opinion about this.
