CBSE To Hold NEET On May5 For MBBS & BDS
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting the first Common Entrance Test for admission to MBBS an BDS courses across the country on 5th May, 2012

The NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) will cater to admissions in all the government and private medical and dental colleges in the country on the basis of its merit list. Over a 10 lakh students are expected to take this exam in the upcoming year.

With this, the All India Pre-Medical Test held earlier along with other state medical entrance exams would not be held now and this NEET-UG will substitute all previous tests. .There are a total of 355 recognized medical colleges in the country in which the admissions to MBBS courses will be held on the basis of the common merit list of NEET-UG.

Besides all these, the reservation of seats min medical and dental colleges in respective categories will be as per applicable laws prevailing in states/Union Territories. An top MCI official said that "There will be no interference in such reservations and quotes as directed by the state governments and private medical colleges."

CBSE on announcing the date also said that Medical Council of India (MCI) has already notified that the Board will be conducting the test for entry to Medical and dental colleges in the country. CBSE will be conducting this exam in English, Hindi, and those regional languages in which the tests were held earlier.

The syllabus for this exam has always been notified by the Medical Council of India earlier and all admissions to MBBS and BDS will be held on the basis of the common merit list of this NEET for Undergraduate courses.
