Anti-Ragging Panels In Rajasthan College
The Government of Rajasthan has directed all the Government Colleges in the State to set up anti-ragging committees in order to ban harassment of junior students. The officials revealed that a committee at each district headed by the collector and another state-level committee will also be set-up very soon.

A senior official of the state's Higher Education said "In the recent past there have been some serious cases of ragging at some colleges. Eight Engineering students had to be suspended on charges of ragging junior students at the Government-run MBM Engineering College in Jodhpur on Aug 31".

The members of NGO's, media persons, non-teaching staffs of the respective colleges and senior students will be among the members of the committee to be formed by the college. The college principal will be heading the committee.

The officer also said that earlier, the administration of the respective university to which the college is affiliated used to take action in ragging incidents. "These committee will review various ragging cases reported in the colleges and oversee if the proper action was taken or not", he added.

Last year the Police department had raised up criminal cases against 16 students of Jai Narain Vyas University in Jodhpur in the month of September after the first year student went under depression due to ragging. Hence the official has announced that these committee will review various ragging cases reported in the colleges and overseas if the proper action was taken.

Moreover, similar committees will be formed at districts and state level too. Are you against Ragging? What do you think the colleges should do in order to stop ragging in schools and colleges?
