Top MBA Exams Do Include General Awareness Section

We all know that XLRI has recently announce about its General Awareness Section which is to be included from the year 2013. But other top MBA Entrance examinations like IIFT, SNAP, IRMA, CMAT and MAT do have a section on General Awareness.

Why 'GENERAL AWARENESS' ?
General Awareness is increasingly gaining importance in MBA entrance examinations. Traditionally, MBA entrance exams like IIFT, SNAP, IRMA, CMAT and MAT do have a section on General Awareness. Recently XLRI has also announced incorporation of a section of a section on General awareness from 2013 onwards in its entrance examination. If you are aiming to crack any one of these exams to get admission in top MBA Colleges then you need to have a very strong General Knowledge Base.

The below details will give you a brief description on top MBA entrance exams and its GA section.

IIFT : The questions are from current affairs and strategic general knowledge. The areas from which questions are asked include business, economics, sports, literature, geography, science, awards and others. The difficulty ranges from moderate to tough.

The total number of questions in IIFT is 120 among which 20 to 30 questions will be for the General Awareness Section.

SNAP : The general awareness section is divided between static GK and Current affairs. Current affairs questions are mostly on business and economics. Static GK Questions include topics like economy, acronym, history, sport, science and technology and definitions of terms.

The GA section consists of around 35-40 questions. The total number of questions in SNAP is 150. The difficulty range is moderate.

IRMA : General awareness section in IRMA will be replaced with/ named as 'Issues of Social Concern'. Compared to other MBA entrance exams, IRMA has the maximum number of questions. Questions are asked from agriculture and rural development, rural economy, organizations, personalities, awards, important dates etc.. Economics and rural infrastructure are given emphasis in this paper.

The GA section will have 60 questions and all over IRMA consists of 200 questions. The difficulty ranges from Moderate to tough.

CMAT : The general awareness section of AICTE CMAT exam has questions mainly from static GK. The topics ranged from science, biology, political history, political geography, and arts and letters. Questions are also asked on current affairs, politics, business, economics etc.

General Awareness part in CMAT is named as 'General' consisting of 25 questions. The total number of questions in CMAT is 200. The difficulty level is from Easy to Moderate.

MAT : The section is named Indian and Global Environment in MAT Exam. The topics of this section includes business, current affairs, personalities and their associated fields etc.. However, scores of this section are not included during final calculation of marks.
