Maharashtra To Accept Single CET Model from 2013

Maharashtra Accepts Single CET Model
Maharashtra Technical Education Minister, Rajesh Tope said,"Maharashtra state will accepts single Common Entrance Test (CET) model for admission in to engineering colleges, including Indian Institute of Technology (IIT's) and National Institute of Technology (NIT's) from the academic year 2013".

Rajesh Tope also said,"A proposal in this regard has been prepared and will be presented on the state cabinet for the approval".

The new format suggested by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal for admission to all central Govt. funded engineering institutions, proposes single Common Entrance Test (CET), the JEE will replace the old IIT-JEE and AIEEE.

The Joint Admission Board of the IIT's has given a nod for the Common Entrance Test for all Undergraduate Programmes for the year 2013. According to the new rules admission to the undergraduate programme for 2013 will be based on percentile ranking.

The blueprint of the conduct of the exam has been prepared in IIT-Delhi. The students appearing in this advanced JEE would be getting a chance to take admission in Top IIT's, IT-BHU and ISM-Dhanbad. Also, all these could happen only because JAB has accepted the percentile based formula for conducting the JEE in 2013.

Rajesh Said," Maharashtra Govt. will give 50% weightage to marks scored by students of both English and Non-English medium schools in their class 12 exam".
