IT Sector Seems Losing Its Flare Among BE Students

IT Likely To Lose Its Grade Against BE
The flare of IT Sector (Information Technology) seems to be slowing down globally among the Engineering candidates. In most of the states the Counselling has failed to enthuse the students towards IT Stream.

Only 3000 students have shown interest in IT Branch in the choice filling process. Mechanical Engineering has turned the most attractive branch among the students with almost 11,000 students opting for it so far. Second round of the counselling began on August 8th.

Interestingly, AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), a few months ago, had admitted that several colleges have approached them to close down the IT Branch in their institutes. There are 106 engineering colleges in Bhopal. Among these almost 70% colleges had IT Branch in their list.

Later, when students started decreasing, almost 30% colleges have either shut down the IT Branch or applied to close the IT branch in the last one year.

However, the Engineering colleges owners felt that students should not go for choice on the basis of sketchy information. The secretary of Association of Professional and Technical Education BS Yadav said "Students have been filling the choices without going through any thorough information. They are thinking about Today's market scenario which can hamper their career in the long term".

On Justifying his statement he said "This year during the campus recruitment, almost 20% students from Mechanical branch were recruited by the IT companies. In mu opinion, students should fill choice after taking a complete information from both the industry and survey to avoid any problem after four years of completing the degree".

Though BE is a four year degree where scenario can change any point. "Few years back IT was the most opted one. But, now it is not. The same can be possible for any branch in upcoming days. In-fact students should fill their choices after calculating all factors", he added.

At present, it is Mechanical and Computer Science which turns out to be the most favorite branches. What do you think about IT sector loosing its value against Engineering. Share your point of view.
