Sale Of Engineering Forms Might Reach 2Lakhs A Day

At Anna University, Chennai the sales of Engineering Applications for admissions has picked up in the city this year. N the fourth day since application sale was opened across centres in the State, the figures crossed the total sales of last year, giving an indication of the sustained interest in engineering courses among students.

Rhymend Uthariaraj, the secretary of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2012 said that, the number of applications sold on Tuesday was 1,63,784 compared to the sale for the entire 2011 season which was only 1,63,509.

The officials revealed that they expected the sale figures to touch 2 lakh by May 31, the last date for buying the forms. Like last year, Chennai and Coimbatore continue to register the highest sale numbers with 40,000 and 14,500 respectively as on Tuesday.

As per the records last year over 45,000 seats were left vacant in various Engineering colleges.
