To control the excessive malpractice during admissions for under graduate and post graduate courses, Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) officials have issued a notification to penalize students who block medical seats.
According to the new rule, if a candidate chooses a seat during counselling at Rajiv Gandhi University Of Health Sciences, but does not report to the respective college, will be penalized to the tune of Rs.1 Lakh for Postgraduate courses and Rs.50,000 for Undergraduate courses.
Now, candidates who posses provisional seat allotment certificates will have to pay up Rs.50,000 if they do not surrender the seat before the second round of counselling.
Similarly, if the candidate takes the confirmed seat and does not report to the college, the fee paid by the candidate will be forfeited to COMEDK.
