Students Upset Over CLAT 2012 Question Paper

Students Upset Over CLAT 2012 Paper
Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2012) was held on May 13 at 46 centres in 20 cities across the country from 03.00 PM to 05.00 PM. There were almost 26,000 undergraduate and 1,050 postgraduate students took CLAT Exam for admission to LL.M Programmes at various National Law Schools.

Students appeared for the CLAT 2012 found that more than 25 questions are out of the syllabus. Many students were not able to complete the Static GK and Logical GK section questions, because they found out of syllabus questions in that sections.

Justice (Retd) N.N, Mathur, Convenor of CLAT 2012 and Vice Chancellor of National Law University, Jodhpur, said that The paper has been set by the experts of hidh reputation. It is perfectly with in the frame work. When asked how he resolve the students complaints arisen, he said, I don't have any rights after the exam is over, I can only assess the paper and publish the results.

Ramanuj Mukherjee, prominent CLAT member and founder of CLAT said, “It is extremely unfair and I don't knoe how the people responsible for this going to explain this one. It is apparent from the paper that those who prepared the paper were not aware of the CLAT 2012 Syllabus. This seems to be administrative failure and despicable lack of co-ordination for which thousands of students will have to suffer. This CLAT has surpassed all previous ones in careless, uninformed handling of an exam taken by the students”.

Saurav Datta, former National Product anchor of LST and CLAT member said.” It would be an erroneous, sweeping generalisation to evaluate CLAT 2012 in binary terms, good or bad or as many doing branding it as something which cheated thousands of law school aspirants. True, that the paper in some parts at least was based on a unexpected pattern for instance, not sticking to only current affairs and asking question on elementary general knowledge of legal knowledge”.

Many students are considering filing a PIL before the supreme court against the CLAT Authorities.

The CLAT 2012 Results will be Announced on May 28, 2012.
