UGC-NET Exam Application Deadline Extended To May4

UGC-NET Registration Extended To May 4
Students applying for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examination, scheduled to be held on June 24, have been facing problems while registering for the exam on the website. Many complained have been received saying that the website “Does not accept” new applications.

The deadline for online registration, which initially was April 30, was first extended to May 2 and then to May 4, following several complaints from applicants. UGC Secretary Surinder Singh said 3,79,000 candidates had successfully registered online until 5 PM on April 30, 2012. He included that “However, due to the last minute rush, the UGC site seems to have slowed down, causing difficulties to prospective candidates”.

He further said “We have received complaints across the country. There is no technical error in the website, just that the last minute rush to register creates a problem”. The UGC instead has started accepting forms offline for candidates who have not been able to apply online. Candidates were asked to submit the hard copies at the centres. The physical submission of applicants will continue till may 10.
