Ph.D & M.Tech Courses Now Launched By Jamia Millia

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is on track to offer Ph.D programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and an M.Tech in Nanotechnology from July. Being launched in 2011, the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology would be offering two programmes for the first time.

A official said “The centre, a one of its kind at an Indian University, seeks to create the necessary conditions for the flow of knowledge, expertise and research as also build required infrastructure to support research at the frontiers of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology”.

The mission of the centre is to promote basic and applied research in the fields of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, with potential applications towards fulfilling national strategic needs. The main research focus of the centre includes Nano-fabrication and applications towards fulfilling national strategic needs.

The main research focus of the centre includes Nano-fabrication and Nano-device, Nano-materials and Nano-Structures, Nano-biotechnology and Nano-medicine, Nano-structure characterization and measurements. The application forms and downloadable prospectus is available in the Website.

About M.tech Programme : The M.Tech course will be spread across 2 years that is of 4 semesters. There will be 20 seats on offer in this course. The last date for receiving completed application forms is 7th May, 2012.

How To Apply for admission : The admission to the programme will be through an Entrance Test followed by an Interview.

Eligibility : M.Sc in Physics/ Chemistry (With Mathematics up to at least Graduation level. )/ Electronics/ Material Science/ Electronic Instrumrntation with not less than 55% marks in aggregate. OR
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electronic and Communications/ Computer Engineering/ Instrumentation or Equivalent Examination, with not less than 65% marks in the absolute system.

Please Note : In addition to the above program, the Centre will be offering a Ph.D programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. The admission process will start in July. The schedule of admission and the guideline will be displayed on Jamis's Website.
