IIM-Bangalore Offering Courses In Arts and Science

IIM-B(Indian Institute of Management- Bangalore) students have gone beyond the finance or marketing classes to learn Arts and science courses offered at the institute. Creativity in science and arts course at the institute is attracting majority of students.

The institute offers the course as an elective in PGP second year. Out of the batch size of 380, 140 students have already opted for the course for the coming academic session. There has been a tremendous rise from 30 students in 2008 when the course was first introduced in this institute.

Literature and arts provide comprehensive understanding of people, whereas management teaches you how to deal with them. You get to know various features of personalities. The course may not be directly related to management subjects such as finance or marketing but is subtly linked to it.

The course also includes Western classics and Bollywood music of 1960's literature reading from Rabindranath Tagore, Victor Hugo and Leo Tolstoy. For assessment, art facts from 3 areas- literature, music and visual arts are shown and students are asked to write a criticism from the creativity point of view. In science and Maths, students are taught basics lessons and seek creative high points in theorems and proofs.

Though this course, students get an insight to fine arts, comprising of painting, drawing, music, literature and cinematography.
