Students Fooled By A Women Lawyer
A women lawyer named Lydia Ryan of age 44 in Chennai has been accused of cheating 7 medical candidates of Rs. 1.32 crore by assuring them seats in Bangalore Private Medical Colleges. She, who had collected Rs 1.32 crore from students promising for medical seats was finally arrested at her Anna Nagar apartment in Chennai and later taken in judicial custody on remand.

The incident was exposed when a businessman named Velu based in Pernampet near Vellore filed a complaint against the lady seeking legal action. He complained that she took Rs.20 lakh from him after promising a medical seat for his son. But, when his son could not get medical seat as promised, Velu asked for the return of money but, she kept avoiding and finally escaped from that place.

 

Initially, Ryan refused about cheating the petitioner but, subsequently 6 more complaints were received against her for similar charges of cheating. Then she committed her offence and promised to pay back the amounts to the victims.

The candidates who were fooled by this lady lawyer was Raj Kumar in Puducherry, Gurupriya of Tiruvannamalai, Navin of Cudalore, Radhika of Ambur, Vishnu of Gingee and Gunasekaran of Cheyyar. She had collected amount of Rs.17 lakh, 20 lakh, 15 lakh, 20 lakh, 21 lakh and 20 lakh respectively from these students.

As per the police, Lydia Ryan had finished her Law course from Bangalore College and registered with the Madras Bar council in the year 1991 but not yet renewed on time. It is found that her husband is a financial consultant.
