New Official Notification Of Exam Pattern By IIT's

IIT Release New Exam Pattern In April
Finally the discussions of the IIT aspirants over new exam pattern will be put to an end with IIT releasing a formal notification on new exam pattern for admissions in April this year. The IIT directors stated that the reports have been submitted after extensive discussions and a final verdict on when to implement the new exam pattern is expected to come next month.

The IIT aspirants and the faculty members have been waiting for a long time to know when will be the new exam pattern to be introduced. At the previous year, the proposal of the T Ramaswami Committee report on Joint Entrance examination reforms was accepted by IIT council, which suggested a common entrance exam for all engineering institutes including NIT's, IIT's and other private engineering colleges.

IIT directors revealed that because of the trend of coaching classes, students have started neglecting schools classes. Many students do not attend school classes because of the pressure of cracking competitive exams. Many industry professionals think that competitive exams such as IITJEE are creating problems at school level as students focus more on their IIT JEE preparation rather than school level as Students focus more on their IIT JEE preparation rather than school education.

They prefer to attend coaching classes instead of school classes. As per the IIT Guwahati director nowadays school education and board exams are neglected due to pressure of cracking competitive exams. Students concentrate only on studying chemistry, biology and physics and are least interested in learning English or geography.

The HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has therefore decided to assign weightage to class 12 board exams during admission in IIT's. He also clarified that the tests will be called JEE (Joint Entrance examination) only, and the question paper will be prepared by IIT's. Class 12 Board exam scores will carry a weightage of 40%. The new reform will help IIT's to get brighter students, he added.

Meanwhile, the IITians feel that the new admission system will hamper the quality of students and are fighting for the status quo of the IIT admission process.
